Redirecting the Circular Firing Squad

Book Sales - The First 30 Days

As a first-time author, I really have not had any expectations regarding book sales. I know that putting a book on Amazon and other online sites with a million others provides no promise of sales. Obviously, people must, first of all, know that it is there and secondly, their interest must be piqued adequately to give the book a try. The good news in the online world is that all 13 Amazon reviews are 5-star reviews with very complimentary remarks. All Barnes and Noble reviews have been 5 stars as well.

Local book sales are a little different. Most people know many people and many of those people will buy a book, if for no other reason, just to be kind. I had a local bookstore agree to host a book-signing. That was fun and interesting. Another friend who is an avid reader, and a member of 5 book reading groups, adopted me even before she had read the book. She organized a “Meet the Author Luncheon” and invited 30 of her friends. She personally sold 17 books, even before that event!

In the first 60 days, 30 of which were problematic due to issues created by Amazon taking that long to fix their paperback listing, I have sold 200 books. Again, I don’t know how that stacks up. I don’t know if I will ever sell another book! Of course, my dream is that it catches fire and significant demand arises. Again, that is a dream, perhaps fantasy.

The next step in the book launch occurs on June 14, Flag Day. The Amazon Kindle version of the book goes on sale for just $.99! It is only for a week so if you know anyone whom you would want to refer the book to, let them know they can get it for next to nothing through June 20! As always, an online review of the book would be appreciated.
